Checkout.com
Leverage the Tamara - Checkout.com partnership to offer a seamless Buy Now, Pay Later experience to your customers. This integration enables quick onboarding for existing Checkout.com merchants and provides flexible implementation options for new businesses.
Overview
Checkout.com is a global financial technology company that provides end-to-end online payment solutions. Its platform focuses on secure payment processing, fraud prevention, and advanced data analytics, enabling merchants to operate at scale while meeting regional and regulatory requirements.
Through this partnership, merchants can enable Tamara as a payment method within their existing Checkout.com payment flow.
Supported Regions and Currencies
Tamara payments via Checkout.com are currently supported in the following regions and currencies:
- United Arab Emirates (UAE) — AED
- Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) — SAR
Pre-requisites
Before starting the integration, ensure the following requirements are met:
- You must be an existing Checkout.com merchant already integrated using the Checkout.com Flow.
- To begin testing, contact your Checkout.com Account Manager or Integrations Engineer to request activation of Tamara payments in the Sandbox environment.
- A Tamara Sandbox test account will be shared by the Checkout.com Account Manager or Integrations Engineer to accelerate integration and testing. Please find the full Checkout.com implementation documentation here.
- Once Sandbox testing and validation are completed, your Checkout.com Account Manager or Integrations Engineer will assist in enabling Tamara in the Production environment.
You must implement Tamara branding widgets on your product pages and checkout flow. This is a mandatory requirement for all Tamara integrations.
Sandbox Testing Flow
Follow the steps below to complete a Tamara payment in the Sandbox environment:
- Create a Tamara transaction via Checkout.com and retrieve the redirect URL returned in the response.
- Redirect the customer to Tamara’s hosted checkout page using the provided redirect link.
- Sign in using one of the test phone numbers shared with you for Sandbox testing.
- Confirm the one-time password (OTP).
- In the Sandbox environment, the OTP will be prompted on the login screen.
- Enter card details using one of the Tamara test card numbers provided.
- Select Submit to complete the payment.
- Upon successful payment, the customer will be redirected to your predefined success URL.
Next Steps
After completing Sandbox testing:
- Validate successful payment, failure, and cancellation scenarios
- Test redirects and order status updates
- Confirm that payment captures do not remain in a deferred capture state unless intentionally configured.
- Confirm widget placement and messaging accuracy
- Coordinate with your Checkout.com Account Manager or Integrations Engineer to enable Production access
- Regularly monitor webhook delivery to confirm that Tamara-related payment events are being received and processed successfully.
Failure to configure or monitor webhooks may result in incorrect order statuses, delayed fulfillment, or reconciliation issues.
Refunds & Cancellations Handling
Refunds and cancellations for Tamara transactions must be managed exclusively through Checkout.com.
- Refunds can be initiated using the Checkout.com APIs or directly via the Checkout.com Merchant Portal.
- Merchants must not attempt to process refunds or cancellations directly through Tamara systems as the refund option is disabled
Support & Escalation Matrix
For any integration, testing, or production-related support:
- Merchants should first contact their Checkout.com Account Manager or Integrations Engineer.
- The Checkout.com team will act as the primary point of contact and will engage Tamara Support if required.
- Direct escalation to Tamara by merchants is not required unless explicitly advised by Checkout.com.
This model ensures faster resolution and clear ownership across all parties.
