Overview
Amazon Payment Services is a regional payment service provider offering secure and scalable digital payment solutions across the Middle East and North Africa. Its platform supports multiple payment methods and checkout models, enabling merchants to deliver reliable payment experiences across web and mobile platforms.
Through this partnership, merchants can enable Tamara as a payment option within the Amazon Payment Services payment flow, allowing customers to complete purchases using Tamara’s installment-based payment experience.
Supported Regions and Currencies
Tamara payments via Amazon Payment Services are currently supported in the following regions and currencies:
- United Arab Emirates (UAE) - AED
- Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) - SAR
Pre-requisites
Before starting the integration, ensure the following requirements are met:
- You must be an existing Amazon Payment Services merchant with an active integration.
- To begin testing, contact your Amazon Payment Services Account Manager or Integration team to request activation of Tamara payments in the Sandbox environment.
- A Tamara Sandbox test account will be shared to support integration and testing. Please find the complete implementation guide for Tamara on Amazon Payment Services here.
- Once Sandbox testing and validation are completed, the Amazon Payment Services team will assist in enabling Tamara in the Production environment.
You must implement Tamara branding widgets on your product pages and checkout flow. This is a mandatory requirement for all Tamara integrations.
Sandbox Testing Flow
- The typical Sandbox payment flow for Tamara via Amazon Payment Services includes the following steps:
- Create a Tamara transaction through the Amazon Payment Services payment flow.
- Redirect the customer to Tamara’s hosted checkout experience, if applicable.
- Sign in using the provided test credentials for Sandbox testing.
- Confirm the one-time password (OTP) as prompted in the Sandbox environment.
- Complete the payment using test payment details shared for testing.
- Upon completion, the customer is redirected to the predefined success or failure URL configured by the merchant.
Next Steps
After completing Sandbox testing:
- Validate successful payment, failure, and cancellation scenarios
- Test redirects and order status updates
- Confirm that payment captures do not remain in deferred state unless intentionally configured
- Confirm widget placement and messaging accuracy
- Coordinate with your Amazon Payment Services Account Manager or Integrations Engineer to enable Production access
Regularly monitor webhook delivery to confirm that Tamara-related payment events are being received and processed successfully
Refunds & Cancellations Handling
Refunds and cancellations for Tamara transactions must be managed through Amazon Payment Services.
- Refunds should be initiated using the Amazon Payment Services APIs or Merchant Portal.
- Merchants must not attempt to process refunds or cancellations directly via Tamara.
- Amazon Payment Services will coordinate the refund status and reconciliation with Tamara.
Support & Escalation Matrix
For any integration, testing, or production-related support:
- Merchants should first contact their Amazon Payment Services Account Manager or Integration team.
- Amazon Payment Services will engage Tamara Support if escalation is required.
- Direct escalation to Tamara is not required unless explicitly advised.
